SUMMARY

Paul is leveling the playing field. In the beginning of Romans, Paul doesn’t want anyone to think that they have the advantage. He shifts from highlighting the sins of gentiles and people who don’t know God, to showing the hypocrisy of those who do know God.

Following God requires more than we just agree with Him. If we agree with what God says but don’t follow Him, what does that say? Paul exhorts those who know God to not dishonor God’s kindness and grace. God has freely forgiven, not because we changed our lives but so that we can!
