SUMMARY

Paul does not write without thinking through his whole “argument.” It’s important that we notice how Paul moves from one point to the next and then on to the next. In the first three chapters, Paul talk about the pervasiveness of wickedness and godlessness, how no one anywhere is righteous before the Lord on their own account, and how the only righteousness that we can have is what is offered to us by God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is important to understand this logical flow of thought. Although Paul is talking primarily about the dichotomy between Jew and Gentile, the points of application are still powerful for us.
